Turkey's First LNG FSRU Terminal: ETKİ Port
Located in Aliağa, İzmir, ETKİ Port Facilities has commissioned Turkey's first Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Storage and Regasification Terminal (FSRU) to provide uninterrupted gas supply to the national gas pipeline. This innovative terminal facilitates the regasification and transmission to the national system of liquefied natural gas imported via floating units.
The ETKİ Floating LNG Terminal serves as a strategic supply point to meet the increasing energy demands of the region and provide a reliable energy source for natural gas combined cycle power plants. It plays a critical role, especially during seasonal fluctuations and peak consumption times, in ensuring gas supply security and maintaining system pressure.
Moreover, without increasing tanker traffic congestion in the straits, this terminal, easily accessible from the open sea, provides Turkey with the opportunity to import natural gas from alternative sources and ensures uninterrupted feed to the national gas transmission network, thereby making a significant contribution to energy supply security.
